Jersey City, New Jersey Man Charged In Last Saturday's Fort Lee Hit & Run

28-YEAR-OLD JERSEY CITY MAN CHARGED FLEEING THE SCENE AFTER HITTING TWO PEOPLE IN FORT LEE

     "Oliver Garcia Was Charged On Thursday With Leaving The Scene Of A Crash Resulting In Bodily Injury, Hindering Apprehension & Tampering."

FORT LEE, NJ.- A 28-Year-Old Jersey City, New Jersey man was Taken into Custody and Charged in connection with Last Saturday Evening's Hit and Run that left Two Pedestrians Seriously Injured on Lemoine Avenue in Fort Lee, New Jersey.


     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Saturday, February 17, 2024, shortly be 7:00 p.m., The Fort Lee Police Department received a 911 Emergency Call reporting that Two People had been Struck by a Motor Vehicle on Lemoine Avenue and then Fled the Scene. Responding Police Officers found Two People in The Roadway, both having sustained Serious Injuries. 


     Both People were immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment, their condition was unknown at this time.


     An ensuing investigation by Members of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Investigation and The Fort Lee Police Department determined that a 2007 BMW 550i being operated by Oliver Garcia, 28, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was involved with a Collision with another Motor Vehicle that ended up Hitting the Two People why they were waiting at a Bus Stop. Mr. Garcia Fled the Scene after the Collision before Police Officers arrived while the Second Vehicle remained at the Scene.


     Following the investigation, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, Mr. Garcia was Arrested and Charged with Two Counts of Third Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury; Third Degree Hindering Apprehension; and Fourth Degree Tampering with Physical Evidence. Garcia was also Served with Multiple Motor Vehicle Summons.


     Garcia was Processed on The Charges and Released on a Complaint Summons pending his First Appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
