Jersey City Man Convicted In 2018 Stabbing Death Of A Woman

46-YEAR-OLD JERSEY CITY MAN CONVICTED FOR THE AUGUST 2018 FATAL STABBING OF A 38-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

     "Ishmeal Coleman Was Convicted On Murder & Weapons Charges For The 2018 Jersey City Stabbing Death Of Takeela Wilson."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported, that on Friday, February 16, 2024, a Jury sitting in Hudson County, New Jersey Convicted Ismeal Coleman, 46, of Jersey City, New Jersey for The August 2018 Stabbing Death of Takeela Wilson, 38, of Jersey City, New Jersey.



     According to The Prosecutor's Office, on Friday, following a Multi-Week Trial, in Hudson County Superior Court, The Jury returned Guilty Verdicts against Coleman on The Charges of First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


     The Conviction stems from an incident when on August 12, 2018, at around 4:30 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an Injured Woman inside an Apartment located at 391 Forrest Street in Jersey City.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found the woman, later identified as Takeela Wilson, 38, of Jersey City, Dead from an apparent Stab Wound to her Chest, Ms. Wilson was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. The Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined The Cause of Death to be a Stab Wound to The Chest and The Manner of Death to be Homicide.


     The ensuing investigation by Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office and The Jersey City Police Department were able to identify Coleman as the Suspect and the Individual responsible for The Death of Ms. Wilson.


     Sentencing in the matter has been Scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, before The Honorable John A. Young, J.S.C., in Hudson County Superior Court at which time Coleman will Face a Potential Prison Term of 30 Years to Life in New Jersey State Prison.
