27-YEAR-OLD SOMERVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH THE BRUTAL TUESDAY NIGHT STABBING DEATH OF A SOMERVILLE WOMAN

SOMERVILLE, NJ.- Today, Somerset County Authorities reported that David C. Shroitman, 27, of Somerville, New Jersey was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged in The Tuesday Night Brutal Stabbing Death of Mary Rose Fealy, 27, of Somerville, New Jersey.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, just shortly before 10:30 p.m., Members of The Somerville Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an Unresponsive woman outside a residential complex located on North Bridge Street in Somerville.
Upon arrival, Police Officer located a woman, later identified as Mary Rose Fealey, 27, of Somerville, New Jersey, outside the complex suffering from Multiple Stab Wounds. Despite Life-Saving Efforts by responding Police Officers and Emergency Medical Personnel, Ms. Fealey succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A Swift-Moving Investigation by Detectives of The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and The Somerville Police Department were able to identify David C. Stroitman as a Suspect. On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Investigators obtained a Court Authorized Search Warrant for Mr. Stroitman's Residence and his Car. During the Search, Somerville Police Detectives and Patrol Officers were able to locate Mr. Stroitman at around 11:00 p.m. and he was Detained.
Based upon the investigation and the Search, On Monday, February 5, 2024, Mr. Stroitman was Formally Arrested and Charged with First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Stroitman was Processed on The Charges and was Remanded to The Somerset County Jail pending a First Appearance and Pretrial Detention Hearing.
Somerset County Prosecutor McDonald commends all the law enforcement involved in the investigation, as well as all the members in the community and the public that came forward with tips as they related towards this homicide investigation.
