ESSEX COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE CONTINUING TO SEARCH FOR THE DRIVER IN SUNDAY'S HIT AND RUN

NEWARK, NJ. An 18-Year-Old Girl remains Hospitalized in Critical Condition after being Struck by a Motor Vehicle late Sunday Night, after getting off a School Bus returning from an out-of-town School Event.
According to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 10:15 p.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call Reporting a Pedestrian Hit and Run, on The 500 Block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in The City of Newark.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found an 18-Year-Old Girl suffering from Multiple Serious Injuries. The Girl was immediately transported to University Hospital, where she remains listed in Critical Condition.
The initial investigation determined that the girl had gotten off a School Bus that was returning from an out-of-town School Event when she was Struck by a Motor Vehicle that then Fled the Scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Essex County Authorities are continuing their Search for The Vehicle and The Driver.
