32-YEAR-OLD MARYLAND MAN WAS CHARGED LAST FRIDAY FOR HIS ROLE IN A DECEMBER 2022 FATAL CRASH
"Franklin Hunter Stands Charged With Aggravated Manslaughter & Other Multiple Offenses For The South Brunswick Crash That Killed His Passenger."

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ.- A 32-Year-Old Maryland man currently Jailed in The District of Columbia was Charged last Friday in connection with The December 22, 2022, Fatal Crash that Claimed the Life of his 31-Year-Old Passenger while they were Fleeing the Scene of a Franklin Township Armed Robbery.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on December 22, 2022, Members of The South Brunswick Police Department responded to Beekman Road after receiving a report of a Multi-Vehicle Crash.
Upon arrival, Police Officers quickly determined that a Dodge Charger was Fleeing the Scene of an Armed Robbery in Franklin Township. While Fleeing the Scene, the Charger Crashed into Three Separate Vehicles. A man who was a Passenger in The Charger, identified as Joshuah Matthews, 31, of Washington, D.C. was Found Dead inside the Car, the other Occupants of The Dodge Charger Fled the Scene with the help of other involved individuals. After the Crash, it was revealed that The Charger had been Stolen out of Maryland.
The Occupants of The Other involved Vehicles were transported to Local Hospitals for treatment for their Injuries.
Following an Extensive Investigation by Local, State, and Federal Authorities, it was determined that Franklin Hunter, 32, of Maryland, was the Driver of The Dodge Charger that Caused the Crash and then Fled the Scene.
Accordingly, on Friday, January 26, 2024, Mr. Hunter was Formally Charged with First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Second Degree Vehicular Homicide; Second Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death; Third Degree Causing Death While Driving Unlicensed; Second Degree Aggravated Assault; and Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property. Mr. Hunter is Currently Being Detained in The District of Columbia Central Detention Facility on an Unrelated Matter. Upon his release, Mr. Hunter will be Extradicted back to New Jersey to stand trial on The Charges.
