Arrest Made In Nutley, New Jersey's Valentine's Day Hit & Run

NUTLEY, NJ.- Following a Swift-Moving Investigation by Essex County Authorities, a 42-Year-Old Man was Taken into Custody and Charged with Running Down Two Pedestrians, Killing One and Leaving Another Seriously Injured in The Roadway Wednesday Night in Nutley, New Jersey.



     According to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, Members of The Essex County Prosecutor's Office have Arrested Dhkir Robinson, 42, and Formally Charged him with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death; Operating a Motor Vehicle Resulting in Death With a Suspended License; and Endangering an Injured Victim.


     The Charges are the result of an Extensive and Swift-Moving Investigation that was initiated, when on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, shortly before 7:00 p.m., Members of The Nutley Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting that Two Pedestrian had been Struck by a Motor Vehicle that had Fled the Scene, on The 100 Block of Milton Avenue in Nutley.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Two Pedestrians in The Roadway, Wiston Perlaza, 22, of Paterson, New Jersey sustained Fatal Injuries and was Pronounced Deceased at the Scene. The Second Pedestrian was immediately transported to an area Hospital in Serious Condition.
