21-YEAR-OLD PATERSON MAN ARRESTED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER SHOOTING EXGIRLFRIEND'S BROTHER

PATERSON, NJ.- A 21-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey man, who was angry over the Break-up with his Girlfriend was Taken into Custody and Charged in less than 24 Hours after threatening his Ex-Girlfriend and Minutes Later Shooting her Brother on a Paterson, New Jersey Street.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on January 12, 2024, Memphis Morales, 21, of Paterson, New Jersey, was Taken into Custody by Multiple Federal, State, and County Law Enforcement Agencies and Formally Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons; Second Degree Burglary; and Third Degree Terroristic Threats.
The Charges stem from an incident, when on Thursday, January 11, 2024, just shortly after 4:00 p.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Man being Shot in the area of Arch Street and Garfield Avenue in The City of Paterson. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 28-Year-Old, Paterson, New Jersey man suffering from a Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound. The man was immediately transported to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center for treatment.
The ensuing investigation by Detectives of The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and The Paterson Police Department were quickly able to identify Memphis Morales as The Shooter, and he was taken into Custody on Friday.
Following further investigation, Mr. Morales was also Charged in connection to The September 17, 2023, Shooting that occurred in the Early Morning Hours in the area of Market and Pennington Streets in The City of Paterson, which left a 34-Year-Old Secaucus, New Jersey man Hospitalized from a Gunshot Wound.
For The September 17, 2023 Shooting, Mr. Morales has been Formally Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; First Degree Robbery; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.
Morales was Processed on The Charges and was Remanded to The Passaic County Jail pending Future Court Proceedings in Passaic County Superior Court. If Convicted on all The Charges Mr. Morales will Face Decades behind bars in New Jersey State Prison.
