35-YEAR-OLD FORMER BERGEN COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR THE 2021 DRUG OVERDOSE OF A WOMAN

PEQUANNOCK, NJ.- On Friday, January 12, 2024, a 35-Year-Old Former Bergen County, New Jersey man will spend a decade in New Jersey State Prison for his role in Supplying Fentanyl Laced Narcotics to a Pequannock Township, New Jersey woman who Tragically succumbed to an Overdose back in 2021.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on Friday, December 13, 2023, David Pezak, 35, formerly of Saddle Brook, New Jersey entered a Guilty Plea to First Degree Strict Liability for a Drug-Induced Death; and Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. According to The Terms of The Plea Agreement, on Friday The Honorable Ralph Amirata, J.S.C. Sentenced Pezak to a Term of Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison pursuant to The No Early Release Act concurrent to a Term of Five Years with Two Years of Parole Ineligibility for Possession of The Controlled Dangerous Substance.
The Guilty Plea and Sentence stem from an incident, when on Monday, November 15, 2021, Members of The Pequannock Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an Unresponsive Woman inside a Residence in The Township. Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a 35-Year-Old woman deceased at the scene. The Morris County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of Death as Fentanyl, Amphetamine, Carisoprodol, and Clonazepam Intoxication.
The subsequent investigation determined that Mr. Pezak conspired with an Unnamed Individual to Distribute Narcotics to The Woman on November 15, 2021, in Paterson, New Jersey, which resulted in her Death. Following the investigation Pezak was Taken into Custody and Charged.
