BREAKING: Elizabeth, New Jersey Man Convicted Of Weapons Offenses

38-YEAR-OLD ELIZABETH MAN WAS FOUND GUILTY LAST THURSDAY OF MULTIPLE WEAPONS OFFENSES

     "Yasin Villafana Will Now Face 20 Years In New Jersey State Prison After Being Convicted Of 2nd & 4th Degree Weapons Charges."

ELIZABETH, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported, on Thursday, January 18, 2024, that a Jury sitting in Union County, New Jersey, Returned Guilty Verdicts against an Elizabeth man on Multiple Weapons Offenses.


     Yasin Villafana, 38, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was Found Guilty of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Fourth Degree Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine; Fourth Degree Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or Device; and a Disorderly Persons Offense for Resisting Arrest. 


     The Conviction stems from an incident, when on May 5, 2022, Mr. Villafana was Arrested in Elizabeth, New Jersey on an Outstanding Warrant. During his Arrest, Villafana was Found to be in Possession of an Expandable Metal Baton, and a Black Semi-Automatic Handgun Loaded with a High Capacity Magazine, according to The Prosecutor's Office.


     Sentencing in the matter has been Scheduled for April 12, 2024, before The Honorable Regina Caufield, J.S.C., at which time Mr. Villafana Faces a New Jersey State Prison Term of Twenty Years, subject to a Ten Year Stipulation, before becoming Eligible for Parole.
