BREAKING: Newark, New Jersey Man Convicted In Shooting Death Of Teen

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, a Jury sitting in Hudson County, New Jersey, Convicted a 22-Year-Old Newark man on Multiple Charges for The Shooting Death of Seventeen Year Old Zaimeir Bell that occurred on a Jersey City Street on March 21, 2021.


     Following a Four-Day Trial before The Honorable John A. Young, J.S.C., The Jury Returned Guilty Verdicts against Jalen Culver, 22, of Newark, New Jersey on The Charges of First Degree Manslaughter; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. 


     The Conviction stems from an incident, when on Sunday, March 21, 2021, shortly after 5:30 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting Shots Fired in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Woodlawn Avenue in Jersey City.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Male Teen, later identified as Zaimeir Bell, 17, suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds to his Chest. Bell was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
