BREAKING: East Orange, New Jersey Fatal Crash Investigation

ESSEX COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE CONTINUING TO INVESTIGATE AN EARLY FRIDAY MORNING FATAL CRASH

    "Police Continue To Investigate The Circumstances Surrounding An East Orange Crash That Has Claimed The Life Of A 42-Year-Old Newark Woman."

EAST ORANGE, NJ.- The investigation continues into the Cause of an Early Friday Morning East Orange, New Jersey Crash that Tragically Claimed the Life of a 42-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey Woman.


     According to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, on Friday, December 15, 2023, at around 4:15 a.m., Members of The East Orange Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Collision between a Motor Vehicle and an Electric Bike at the Intersection of Main and Grove Streets in East Orange.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a Woman, later identified as Melody Regus, 42, of Newark, New Jersey in the roadway suffering from Life-Threatening Injuries. Ms. Regus was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly before 5:00 a.m.


     The investigation remains active and ongoing and as of yesterday, no arrests have been made.
