42-YEAR-OLD BLOOMINGDALE MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE OCTOBER 19, 2023 OAKLAND FIRE

OAKLAND, NJ.- Yesterday, a 42-Year-Old Former Cable Installer from Passaic County, New Jersey was Arrested and Charged in Paramus, in connection with intentionally setting Fire to Two Optimum Service Vans, behind an Optimum Store in Oakland, New Jersey on October 19, 2023.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Thursday, November 19, 2023, at 3:15 p.m., Members of The Oakland Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Fire at The Optimum Store located on Potash Road in Oakland, New Jersey.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located Two Optimum Service Vans with Smoke and Fire Damage in the rear of the Store. The Fire in both Vans had been put out before the arrival of The Oakland Police and Fire Departments. An ensuing investigation by The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit in conjunction with The Oakland Police Department identified Randy S. McMaster, 42, of Bloomingdale, New Jersey as a Suspect and the individual for starting the Fire.
Accordingly, on Thursday, November 16, 2023, Mr. McMaster was Arrested at The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office in Paramus, and Formally Charged with Second Degree Aggravated Arson; Third Degree Arson; and Third Degree Criminal Mischief. Mr. McMaster was Processed on The Charges and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail pending Future Court Proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court.
