29-YEAR-OLD MANAHAWKIN MAN CONVICTED FOR THE 2016 RAPE AND HOMICIDE OF A 23-MONTH-OLD GIRL

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ.- After a First Jury Deadlocked in 2019 Trial. On Friday, October 13, 2023, A Jury sitting in Camden County, New Jersey Convicted a 29-Year-Old Manahawkin, New Jersey man for The Horrifying 2016 Murder & Sexual Assault of a 23-Month-Old Girl.
According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Friday, following a Second Trial, Michael Disporto, Jr., 29, of Manahawkin, New Jersey, was Found Guilty of First Degree Murder; and First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault. When Sentenced, Mr. Disporto will Face a Life Sentence in New Jersey State Prison.
The Conviction stems from an incident when on Sunday, July 3, 2016, Members of The Gloucester City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an Unresponsive Child. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 23-Month-Old Girl Unresponsive. The Child was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital where she was to have Suffered Extensive Injuries as well as extensive Signs of Sexual Abuse. Two Days later the Child succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
A subsequent autopsy performed by The Camden County Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined that the Cause of Death was Blunt Force Trauma and the Manner of Death Homicide.
