NEWARK, NJ.- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II reported that Detectives of The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Crime Scene Investigations Bureau are continuing their investigation into a Monday Morning Fatal Crash, between a Motor Vehicle and an Electric Scooter that Killed a Newark, New Jersey man.
On Monday, July 31, 2023, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to The 700 Block of Frelinghuysen Avenue near the intersection of Whittier Place in Newark on a Motor Vehicle Collision.
Upon arrival, Police Offices located a Crash involving a Motor Vehicle and an Electric Scooter. The operator of the Scooter, Vinicus Pires DeCruz, 36, of Newark was Struck and Killed by the Motor Vehicle near the intersection. Mr. Pires DeCruz was pronounced deceased at the scene.
