HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that a 71-Year-Old Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey man was Taken into Custody Yesterday and Charged in connection with the Friday, August 11, 2023, Murder of his Wife inside their Home.
On Saturday, August 12, 2023, at approximately 5:01 p.m., Members of The Hasbrouck Heights Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call from a man, identified as Michael Manis, 71, reporting that he had just returned home and Found his Wife Dead.
A Swift-Moving Investigation by Members of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and The Lodi Police Department quickly determined that on Friday, August 11, 2023, Mr. Manis Killed his Wife and Staged a Robbery to cover up the Homicide.
Accordingly, On Sunday, August 13, 2023, Mr. Manis was Arrested and Formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Disturbing or Desecrating Human Remains; Third Degree Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution; and Fourth Degree False Reporting to Law Enforcement.
