TWO ADMIT ROLES IN THE SHOOTING DEATHS OF A PLAINFIELD WOMAN AND A NEW BRUNSWICK MAN

FREEHOLD, NJ.- Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported, Two Men Charged in connection with a Shooting that Claimed the Life of a young Plainfield Woman and a New Brunswick Man, in Neptune Township early Last Year Plead Guilty for their roles in the Killings.
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, Gabriel J. Brathwaite, 20 of Keansburg, New Jersey, Pleaded Guilty to Two Counts of First Degree Murder and a Second Degree Weapons Offense, Mr. Brathwaite admitted that he Fatally Shot Samore Edwards, 18, of Plainfield, New Jersey, and Isaiah Williams, 19, of New Brunswick, New Jersey. Brathwaite's Codefendant, Jeron D. Dearin, 24, of Aberdeen, New Jersey, Pleaded Guilty Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault in connection with the incident.
On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Members of The Neptune Township Police Department responded to The 1300 Block of Washington Avenue on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Two Victims inside a parked car having sustained apparent Gunshot Wounds.
Ms. Edwards had succumbed to her injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Williams was immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injury a was pronounced deceased a short time later.
A Swift-Moving Investigation by Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, The Neptune Township Police Department, and The Keansburg Police Department resulted in Mr. Brathwaite and Mr. Dearin being identified as suspects in The Shooting. The two were arrested without incident less than a month after the Shooting. Both Brathwaite and Dearin have remained in Custody at The Monmouth County Correctional Institution, since their arrest.
Sentencing in this matter has been Scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2023, at which time Mr. Brathwaite will face a Sentence of 45 Years in New Jersey State Prison. Mr. Dearin will face a Sentence of 10 Years in New Jersey State Prison. Both Sentences will be subject to The No Early Release Act, which requires both to Serve 85 Percent of their Custodial Term before becoming eligible for parole.
