IRVINGTON MAN CHARGED AFTER HITTING A 13-YEAR-OLD BOY WITH HIS CAR AND FLEEING THE SCENE

IRVINGTON, NJ.- A 54-Year-Old Irvington, New Jersey man has been Charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident after allegedly Hitting a 13-Year-Old Boy and leaving the Child injured in the roadway on Saturday Morning, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II.
On Saturday, July 8, 2023, at approximately 9:47 a.m., Members of The Irvington Police Department responded to the area of The 1100 Block of Grove Street in Irvington on a report of a Child being Struck by a Motor Vehicle.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 13-Year-Old Irvington Boy suffering from Multiple Injuries. The Boy was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark where he remains listed in Critical Condition.
An ensuing investigation by Essex County Authorities was able to Identify the Vehicle that Struck the Child, and the Driver of the Vehicle as Odaniel Exima, 54, of Irvington, New Jersey. Accordingly, on Sunday, July 9, 2023, Mr. Exima was Charged with Second Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury; and Endangering an Injured Victim.
