29-YEAR-OLD TRENTON MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE SHOOTING DEATH OF GIRLFRIEND

TRENTON, NJ.- Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that The Mercer County Homicide Task Force has Charged a 29-Year-Old Trenton man in connection with The Shooting Death of his Girlfriend that occurred Late Saturday Night in Trenton, New Jersey.
On Saturday, July 1, 2023, at approximately 10:19 p.m., Members of The Trenton Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting Gunfire at a residence located at 301 Hills Place in The City of Trenton. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Precious Saunders, 32, of Trenton, who had sustained Multiple Gunshot Wounds inside the residence.
Ms. Saunders was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
An investigation by Detectives of The Mercer County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with The Trenton Police Department quickly determined that earlier in the day, Ms. Saunders was the victim of a Domestic Violence Assault by her Boyfriend, Jeremy Ratliff, 29, of Trenton, New Jersey.
An Arrest Warrant was Issued for Mr. Ratliff, Charging him with Aggravated Assault. Mr. Ratliff was located by Members of The Trenton Police Department in the area of The Trenton Transit Center on Clinton Avenue in The City. Mr. Ratliff was taken into custody at approximately 10:46 p.m.
During the Homicide Investigation, Detectives learned that, during the Second Incident, Witnesses heard Screaming and within seconds Several Gunshots. Mr. Ratliff was seen Fleeing 301 Hills Place toward Federal Street.
Accordingly, Mr. Ratliff was Additionally Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, After being Processed on The Charges Mr. Ratliff was transported to The Mercer County Correction Center pending his first appearance. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have Mr. Ratliff Detained pending the resolution of The Charges against him.
