HUDSON COUNTY HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Police are continuing to search for answers into why a 15-Year-Old Boy was Fatally Shot early Monday Morning on Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey.

     Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that on Monday, June 5, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call of a Shooting at 124 Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a Teen Boy, later identified as Tyshawn Smith, 15, of Jersey City, unresponsive from an Apparent Gunshot Wound, the Teen was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene at 4:55 a.m.

     The circumstance regarding this incident is actively being investigated by The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and The Jersey City Police Department.
