JERSEY CITY MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO MAY 5, 2023, NORTH BERGEN FATAL HIT AND RUN

NORTH BERGEN, NJ.- According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Members of The Hudson County Regional Collision Unit Arrested a 30-Year-Old Jersey City man in connection with a Fatal Hit and Run that occurred in North Bergen, New Jersey on Friday, May 5, 2023.
Julian Palacios, 30, of Jersey City, New Jersey has been Charged with Second Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Death; and Fourth Degree Obstruction. Mr. Palacios was Arrested on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in Long Branch, New Jersey. As of Tuesday, Mr. Palacios was in Custody at a local Medical Facility and will be transferred to The Hudson County Correction Facility, once Medically Cleared.
On Friday, May 5, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Members of The North Bergen Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Motorcycle Lying in the Roadway in the area of Granton and Liberty Avenues in North Bergen.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located an Injured man, later identified as Joshua Huayamave, 23, of North Bergen, Several Blocks away from the Motorcycle on 76th Street, between Cottage and Tonnelle Avenues. Mr. Huayamave was immediately transported to Palisades Medical Center, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
A swift-moving investigation by Members of The Hudson County Regional Collision Unit was quickly able to identify Mr. Palacios as the Operator of a Blue Honda Civic that Struck a Motorcycle that was being Operated by Mr. Huayamave and then Fled the Scene.
