THREE ATLANTIC COUNTY RESIDENTS CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEATH OF A DOG

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds reported that on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Derek Hardy, 58, Lassale Hardy 56, and Shak Balayet, 51, all of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey were each Arrested and Charged with Two Counts of Third Degree Animal Cruelty and Multiple Charges of Disorderly Person Offenses of Animal Cruelty. The Three were Charged in connection with the Death of One Dog and Cruelty to Another Dog.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Members of The Egg Harbor Police Department responded to Wilburforce Avenue in The Township on a report of Two Dogs being Abandoned.
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered Two Dogs Tied to a Tree. One of the Dogs had already died, and the other was found Extremely Emaciated and in need of Immediate Medical Attention.
A joint investigation by Members of The Egg Harbor Township Humane Law Enforcement Department in conjunction with Detectives of The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office quickly determined that the Dogs were Abandoned for at least One Week prior to their discovery by Police Officers.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office would like to remind the public that any Pets that can no longer be cared for or are no longer wanted, can be surrendered to The Atlantic County Animal Shelter in Pleasantville, New Jersey, or The Humane Society in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
