59-YEAR-OLD PATERSON MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH TUESDAY'S PATERSON SHOOTING
" Robert Carroll Charged With Attempted Murder & Weapons Offenses."

PATERSON, NJ.- Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that following an investigation into a Shooting that occurred on Tuesday Morning, a 59-Year-Old Paterson, New Jersey man was Taken into Custody and Charged by Members of The Paterson Police Department.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Madison and 10th Avenues in Paterson on a report of a Verbal Altercation between a School Security Guard and an individual, later identified as Robert Carroll, 59, of Paterson, New Jersey.
Based upon the initial investigation, Police Officers determined that the Verbal Altercation escalated to Gunfire being exchanged between Mr. Carroll and the School Security Guard. No one was injured during the exchange. Mr. Carroll then fled the scene and was later located and Taken into Custody by Police Officers at 12:37 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson, New Jersey.
Accordingly, Mr. Carroll was Charged with One Count of First Degree Attempted Murder: Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
The circumstances surrounding the Shooting still remain under active investigation. Mr. Carroll has been scheduled to Appear in Passaic County Central Judicial Processing Court Today, at 1:30 p.m., at which time The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office will make a Motion before the Court to have Mr. Carroll detained pending Trial.
