EASTER SUNDAY DOMESTIC DISPUTE TURNS VIOLENT IN PHILLIPSBURG, NEW JERSEY

     " In An Apparent Domestic Dispute, Alkabir I. Boone Shoots A Woman, A Police Officer Before Turning The Gun On Himself, Taking His Own Life."

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- An Easter Sunday Afternoon Domestic Dispute turns violent after a 35-Year-Old Phillipsburg, New Jersey man in a fit of rage Shoots a Woman in front of her Three Kids, a Phillipsburg Police Lieutenant, before turning the gun and Fatal Shooting Himself.



     Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer reported that on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at approximately 1:13 p.m., Members of The Phillipsburg Police Department responded to a report of a woman being Shot by a man wearing a red hat and blue jeans outside a residence on Hanover Street in Phillipsburg. 



     Upon arrival, Lieutenant Baylor, a Twenty-Four-Year Veteran, and Police Officer Fielding both from The Phillipsburg Police Department encountered Alkabir I. Boone, 35, of Phillipsburg. As Lieutenant Baylor was opening his Police Vehicle's Door, Mr. Boone fired at Baylor, and the Bullet passed through the Vehicle's Door Striking Lieutenant Baylor in the Leg. Officer Fielding attempted to Return Fire but his weapon malfunctioned. Within seconds Mr. Boone turned the Gun on himself, taking his Own Life.


     Lieutenant Baylor and the Woman who had been Shot Three Times in The Back were Airlifted to Saint Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Baylor was treated and released later on Sunday. The Woman remains Hospitalized and is listed in Stable Condition.


     Mr. Boone who used an Illegally Possessed 9MM Handgun during the Shooting has an extensive Criminal History of Narcotics, Resisting Arrest Convictions, and a Prior Weapons Conviction, dating back to 2008.


     The Shooting remains under investigation by The Warren County Prosecutor's Office.
