Florida Man Convicted Of Murder

A FLORIDA MAN HAS BEEN CONVICTED OF MURDER FOR THE FATAL SHOOTING OF A FATHER OF THREE

     " Ariel Dumit Has Been Convicted On All Counts For The February 2021 Parking Lot Shooting Death Of Christian Parra."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, a Jury sitting in Hudson County, New Jersey, Convicted Ariel Dumit, 37, of Port Richey, Florida, on all counts for the Shooting Death of Christian Parra, 34, of Jersey City, New Jersey. 



     Mr. Dumit was found Guilty of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The Verdict was Handed Down, following a Two-Week Trial in Hudson County State Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.


     The Conviction is the result of an incident, when on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at approximately 8:18 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to BJ's Parking Lot, located at 396 Marin Boulevard in Jersey City on a report of a Shooting. 



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Christian Parra, 37, a Father of Three, of Jersey City, suffering from an apparent Gunshot Wound to his Torso. Mr. Parra was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased at 9:00 p.m.


     The Hudson County Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined the Cause of Death to be a Gunshot Wound to the Torso and The Manner of Death to be Homicide. 


     A swift-moving investigation by Members of The Hudson County Homicide Unit and The Jersey City Police Department was able to identify Mr. Dumit as a Suspect and the individual responsible for the Shooting Death of Mr. Parra. Through a Collaborative Effort, Law Enforcement Agencies were able to Track Mr. Dumit to Port Richey, Florida. Three Weeks later Mr. Dumit was apprehended by Members of The United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and Extradicted back to New Jersey to face Charges.
