NEWARK, NJ.- Today, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II announced Detectives of The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force are continuing to investigate Yesterday Afternoon's Shooting that has Claimed the Life of a 19-Year-Old Newark, New Jersey man.

     On Monday, March 6, 2023, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Members of The Newark Police Department responded to a Building located on The 300 Block of South 6th Street in Newark on a report of a Shooting.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Calvin C. Scott, 19, of Newark inside the building suffering from Gunshot Wounds. Mr. Scott was immediately transported to University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8:03 p.m.
