TWO CHARGED IN FEBRUARY 17, 2023 MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY HOMICIDE

MILLVILLE, NJ.- On Monday, March 6, 2023, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae reported that a Vineland, New Jersey Man and a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Man have been Arrested and Charged in connection with the February 17, 2023, Shooting Death of a 34-Year-Old Lamont O. Jones.
On Friday, February 17, 2023, Members of The Millville Police Department responded to the area of 4th and E Streets in Millville on a report of Shot Fired.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located Mr. Jones suffering from Multiple Gunshot Wounds to his Chest. Mr. Jones was immediately transported to Cooper Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased a short time later.
Detectives were able to identify Two Men as Suspects and the individuals responsible for the Fatal Shooting of Mr. Jones. As a result Maurice L. Jones, 30, of Vineland, New Jersey and Edwin L. Torres, 31, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania were Arrested and both Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Both men were processed on the Charges and remanded to The Cumberland County Jail in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office has filed Pretrial Detention Motions to have Mr. Jones and Mr. Torres Detained pending the resolution of the Charges Against them.
