Bergen County Narcotics Arrests

BERGEN COUNTY NARCOTICS TASK FORCE DETECTIVES SEIZE FENTANYL AND COCAINE IN 2 SEPARATE CASES

     " Detectives Remove 1.5 Million Lethal Doses Of Fentanyl & 2 Kilograms Of Cocaine Off New Jersey Streets."

HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Monday, March 27, 2023, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following Two Separate Narcotics Investigations into Narcotics Distribution, a 49-Year-Old Roselle Park, New Jersey man and a 29-Year-Old Orlando, Florida man have been Arrested and Charged with Multiple Narcotics Offenses. The Arrests come just One Week after Five Coworkers Overdosed who thought they were ingesting Cocaine, when in fact, the Cocaine was Laced with Fentanyl causing the Death of a 29-Year-Old Single Mother.


     On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, during a Narcotics Investigation, Detectives of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force conducted a Traffic Stop on Vehicle in Hackensack, being operated by Jose Restrepo-Velez, 49, of Roselle Park, New Jersey. During the Traffic Stop, The Detectives conducted a Search of the Vehicle, Detectives located Two Kilograms of Fentanyl and Approximately 100 Grams of Cocaine. The Traffic Stop was conducted because, in early March, Mr. Restrepo-Velez had Distributed 50 Grams of Cocaine and 100 Grams of Fentanyl to an undercover Detective. 


     Accordingly, Mr. Restrepo-Velez was Arrested at the scene and Charged with First Degree Distribution of Cocaine; Second Degree Distribution of Cocaine; and Second Degree Distribution of Fentanyl. Mr. Restrepo-Velez was Processed on the Charges and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail, pending a First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court and Potential Detention Hearing.


     On Thursday, March 23, 2023, during a separate Narcotics Investigation, Detectives of The Bergen County Narcotics Task Force conducted a Traffic Stop on a Vehicle being operated by Gabriel Ortiz-Redondo, 29, of Orlando, Florida, as the Vehicle traveled through Bergen County, New Jersey. A Search of the Vehicle determined that Mr. Ortiz-Redondo was Transporting Two Kilograms of Cocaine in an Electronically Operated Hidden Compartment.


     Accordingly, Mr. Ortiz-Redondo was Arrested at the scene and Charged with First Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Mr. Ortiz-Redondo was Processed on the Charge and Remanded to The Bergen County Jail, pending his First Appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court and Potential Detention Hearing.
