Morris County Man Convicted

43 YEAR OLD MORRIS COUNTY MAN CONVICTED ON AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF AN EIGHT YEAR OLD

     " Amit Bhatt Has Been Convicted On All Charges In Connection To The 2017 Sexual Assault Of A Child."

MORRISTOWN, NJ.- On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll announced that a Jury sitting in Morris County, New Jersey has found Amit Bhatt, 43, formerly of Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, New Jersey Guilty on all Charges in the Aggravated Sexual Assault of an Eight Year Old Child in Parsippany Troy Hills Township back in 2017.



     On Friday, January 27, 2023, The Jury returned Guilty Verdicts on the Charges of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Second Degree Sexual Assault; and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


     Sentencing in this matter has been scheduled for March 17, 2023, before The Honorable Ralph Amirata, J.S.C., at which time Mr. Bhatt will face the potential of Life in Prison pursuant to The Jessica Lunsford Act. Mr. Bhatt will remain in Custody until Sentencing, and was further detained on Charges out of Bergen County, New Jersey for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.


     The Charges stem from an incident that occurred on October 28, 2017, in Parsippany Troy Hills Township. On that Date Mr. Bhatt performed Sex Acts on and Touched the inner thigh of an Eight Year Old Child. Members of The Parsippany Troy Hills Police Department and Investigators of The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes & Child Endangerment Unit after being notified of the victim's disclosure to The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on January 11, 2022.
