Woman Found Dead In County Jail

HUDSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING THE DEATH OF AN INMATE AT COUNTY JAIL

     " A Female Inmate Was Found Dead In Her Cell Tuesday Morning At The Hudson County Correctional Facility."

KEARNY, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstance surrounding the Death of a Female Inmate found dead in her cell, at The Hudson County Correctional Facility, Tuesday morning.

     On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at approximately 7:10 a.m., a Hudson County Correctional Police Officer discovered the lifeless body of a 38-Year-Old woman inside of her cell. Officers and onsite Medical Personnel immediately performed life saving measures that were unsuccessful. The woman was pronounced deceased at 7:34 a.m.

     The woman was a Union County inmate that was being housed at The Hudson County Correctional Facility located in Kearny, New Jersey.

     At this time, in accordance with guidelines by The New Jersey Office of The Attorney General, The Attorney General's Office was immediately notified and The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Shooting Response Team is investigating this matter as an in custody death. There were no visible signs of trauma and the Cause and Manner of Death are pending the Findings of The Regional Medical Examiner's Office.
