Two Sisters Arrested For Shooting

TWO SISTER ARRESTED IN NOVEMBER 6, 2022 PATERSON SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

     " Abriyah Griffin Of Newark, NJ. & Lakenya Griffin Of Minersville, Pa. Are Charged With Attempted Murder, & Weapons Offenses For A Paterson Shooting."

PATERSON, NJ.- On Monday, November 7, 2022, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Acting Paterson Police Chief Bert Ribeiro, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Farge, and Newark Police Chief Emanuel Miranda announced that following an investigation by The Paterson Police Department into an early Sunday morning Shooting in Paterson, New Jersey, Two Sisters have been Arrested and Charged.



     Abriyah Griffin, 25, of Newark, New Jersey and Lakenya Griffin of Minersville, Pennsylvania were taken into custody in connection to a Shooting that occurred at early Sunday morning in the area of Wait and Wood Streets in Paterson, New Jersey.


     On Sunday, November 6, 2022, at approximately 3:41 a.m., Members of The Paterson Police Department were notified of a Shooting that had occurred earlier in the evening in the area of Wait and Wood Streets in Paterson. Shortly thereafter, Paterson Police were notified by Members of The Newark Police Department that Abriyah Griffin and Lakenya Griffin had been detained in the area of Seymour Avenue and West Runyon Street in Newark, New Jersey following a motor vehicle stop.



     Based on the investigation, Paterson Police Officers determined that, after a verbal dispute in the area of Wait and Wood Streets, in Paterson. Abriyah handed Lakenya a Handgun, and instructed her to Shoot the victim, a 31-Year-Old Paterson woman. Lakenya fired the gun in the direction of the woman, who was not struck by gunfire. Following the Shooting, the Paterson woman fled in a vehicle and Abriyah and Lakenya followed her in another vehicle until they were stopped in Newark by Police.


     Abriyah Griffin and Lakenya Griffin have both been Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Abriyah has also been Charged with Third Degree Terroristic Threats.


     The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have both Abriyah and Lakenya detained pending the outcome of a trial.
