MORRIS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ANNOUNCES CANINE SUCCESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

     " K9 Corporal Michael McMahon & Canine Kai Become The 32nd Team To Win Protection Sports Association Achievement Award."

MORRISTOWN, NJ.- Today, Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon announced, it is with great excitement Detective Corporal Michael McMahon and Canine Kai have been Awarded The Protection Sports Association, 3 Certification.


     The PSA 3 Certification is not an easy task and reserved for the most elite Canine Teams. In being awarded this Certification, Detective Corporal McMahon and Canine Kai have become The 32nd Canine Team to ever earn this title.



     The Protection Sports Association, is an outlet for competition in Canine Obedience and Controlled Protection. Certification is broken into various levels that are postured incrementally. As the Canine Team completes each portion PSA 1, 2, & 3, the team moves to the next level. PSA hosts various events across the country to recognize achievement and promote competition in Club Trials and Championship Tournaments. Further, PSA encourages training excellence, sportsmanship, and integrity throughout the dog training community. 



     Detective Corporal McMahon has been participating in the program for over a decade, as a canine handler, competitor, and recognized decoy. Detective McMahon and Canine Kai had previously certified in PSA Level 1 back in 2019, and both parts of PSA Level 2 Certification in 2021. After completing the First Part of Level 3 Certification in October, 2021. The Team completed the final part of Level 3 Certification November, 2022.
