MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Burlington County Jury has Convicted a Pemberton Township Drug Dealer on Wednesday of causing the Death of a customer to whom she sold Fentanyl-Laced Heroin in 2017.

The jury, which began deliberating this Wednesday morning, returned Guilty Verdicts against Shannon McGuigan, 36, of Pemberton Township, New Jersey on Counts of First Degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death; Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute; and Third Degree Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

The Guilty Verdicts stem from an investigation that began on the morning of May 30, 2017 after a 25-Year-Old woman was found deceased in her Pemberton Township home by a family member. An Autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood indicated the Cause of Death was due to Heroin and Fentanyl Toxicity.

The ensuing investigation determined that the 25-Year-Old woman purchased drugs from Ms. McGuigan a short time before she Fatally Overdosed.

Ms. McGuigan was taken into Custody upon The Jury returning the Verdicts. Sentencing has been scheduled for April 29, 2022.
