Three Sentenced In Jersey City Homicide

THREE SENTENCED TO NEW JERSEY STATE PRISON FOR THEIR ROLE IN THE JULY 2019 SHOOTING DEATH OF A 21 YEAR OLD JERSEY CITY MAN

     " Tyshawn Kitchens, Rashad Terry Both Of Jersey City & Corey Walker Of East Orange Were Sentenced On Friday To Prison In The Shooting Death Of Markell Albright."

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Friday, February 4, 2022, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced The Honorable John A. Young, Jr., J.S.C. Sentenced three men to New Jersey State Prison for their Involvement in the Shooting Death of 21-Year-Old Markell Albright in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 23, 2019.


     Tyshawn Kitchens, 21, of Jersey City, Pleaded Guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter. Mr. Kitchens was Sentenced to Fourteen Years in New Jersey State Prison, the Sentence is subject to The No Early Release Act. 


     Rashad Terry, 33, of Jersey City, Pleaded Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Murder. Mr. Terry was Sentenced to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison, the Sentence is subject to The No Early Release Act. 


     Corey Walker, 24, of East Orange, Pleaded Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault. Mr. Walker was Sentenced to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison, the Sentence is subject to The No Early Release Act.


     A Fourth Individual, Sidney McCord, 28, of Jersey City, Pleaded Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault on December 3, 2021. Mr. McCord is scheduled to be Sentenced before Judge Young on Friday, February 11, 2022.


     On July 23, 2019, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 125 and 127 Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City on a report of a man being Shot. Upon arrival, Police Officers found an unresponsive male, later identified as Markell Albright, 21, with Multiple Gunshot Wounds lying on the ground. Mr. Albright was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where Mr. Albright succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:50 p.m.
