Three Charged In Shooting

ONE MAN PREVIOUSLY CHARGED IN STRONG ARMED ROBBERIES AND TWO OTHER MEN ARRESTED IN PLAINFIELD SHOOTING 

     Raheim Morgan, Ja'Son Spann & Demetrius Stephens Have All Been Charged With Attempted Murder & Weapons Offenses For The April 2021 Plainfield Shooting."

PLAINFIELD, NJ.- On Thursday, February 17, 2022 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James T. Abney announced that Three Men have been Arrested and Criminally Charged in connection to a Shooting, occurring on April 26, 2021 in Plainfield, New Jersey.


Raheim Morgan, 19, of Dunellen, New Jersey, Ja’Son Spann, 19, of Plainfield, New Jersey, and Demetrius Stephens, 19 of Piscataway, New Jersey were all Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Second Degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose; and Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property.



On April 26, 2021, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Members of The Plainfield Police Department responded to the area of Liberty and West 4th Streets on Multiple Reports of Shots Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a potential Crime Scene and Numerous Spent Shell Casings and further discovered that numerous Homes and Vehicles had been Struck by Gunfire.


Detectives soon determined that Three Gunman, Driving in a Stolen Vehicle, Fired a total of Thirty Five Rounds at their intended victim, a Plainfield, New Jersey man, who was able to take cover and avoid being struck during the attack. An exhaustive investigation that followed led to the Identification of and Arrests of Mr. Morgan, Mr. Spann and Mr. Stevens, all of whom remain in the Essex County Jail pending their next Court appearances.


“I am grateful to all of the Plainfield Detectives who worked on this case for their dedication throughout this investigation,” said Prosecutor Daniel. “Together with our partner law enforcement agencies, our untiring effort to curb violence on our streets and positively impact the communities we serve continues.”
