COUPLE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER IN THE JANUARY 14, 2022 ROAD RAGE INCIDENT

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Thursday, February 17, 2022 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that Two Individuals involved in a Road-Rage Incident that resulted in a Shooting in January have been Arrested and Charged in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
Keyshawn J. Palmer, 29, of Freehold Township and Chyna R. Edwards, 22, of Tinton Falls have both been Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Murder; and Two Related Weapons Offenses. Mr. Palmer has been additionally Charged with Fourth Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons, while Ms. Edwards was additionally Charged with Second Degree Aggravated Assault.
On Friday, January 14, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Members of The Ocean County Police Department responded to the area of Wickapecko Drive and Sunset on a report of Shots Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers Police Officers made contact with a woman who reported that a man who she knew had been Shot in the leg minutes earlier and was being taken to a local hospital for treatment.
An ensuing investigation conducted by Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau and The Ocean Township Police Department determined that the incident began on Route 35 in Eatontown, when the woman inadvertently cut off a vehicle being driven by Ms. Edwards, with Mr. Palmer in the passenger seat.
Ms. Edwards then allegedly followed the woman through several municipalities before colliding with her vehicle near the scene of the Shooting. The man, having been contacted by the woman arrived in the area minutes later, and a verbal dispute ensued, at which time Mr. Palmer pulled out a Handgun at fired at him striking the man in the leg. Mr. Palmer and Ms. Edwards then Fled the Scene.
Further investigation led to Ms. Edwards and Mr. Palmer being identified as Suspects and responsible for the Shooting. Palmer and Edwards surrendered to Authorities on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 without incident. They were both Processed on the Charges and remanded to The Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await a First Appearance and Detention Hearing in Monmouth County State Superior Court.
A subsequent search of Ms. Edwards vehicle on the night of the incident, a Nissan Sentra uncovered a .380 Caliber Handgun.
