Long Branch New Jersey Man Convicted

TWENTY YEAR OLD LONG BRANCH CONVICTED IN THE 2017 NEW YEAR'S EVE KILLINGS OF HIS FOUR FAMILY MEMBERS

     " Scott Kologi Convicted On All Counts In The Fatal Shooting Of His Mother, Father, Sister & Grandfathers Girlfriend."

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Thursday, February 24, 2022, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced a Monmouth County Jury has Returned Guilty Verdicts on all Counts against a Long Branch, New Jersey man who Fatal Shot Four Members of his Family with a Rifle on New Year's Eve in 2017.



     Following a Two Week Trial before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Marc C. Lemieux and several hours of Jury Deliberation, Scott Kologi, 20, of Long Branch was Convicted on all Charges, including Four Counts of First Degree Murder and a Second Degree Weapons Offense.


     On Sunday, December 31, 2017, at approximately 11:43 p.m., Members of The Long Branch Police Department and The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting Shots Fired. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Four Victims, later identified as Brittany Kologi, 18, Linda Kologi, 44, Steven Kologi, 42, and Mary Shultz, 70, each having sustained Multiple Gunshot Wounds, at various locations inside a residence located at 635 Wall Street in Long Branch, New Jersey.


     Scott Kologi was Arrested at the scene, where Police recovered a Century Arms C39v2 Semi Automatic Rifle used in the Shooting. 


     A subsequent investigation by Members of The Monmouth Prosecutor's Office and Long Branch Police Department determined that Scott Kologi who was 16-Years-Old at time of The Shooting, systematically Fatally Shot all Four Members of his Family. The Charges filed against Mr. Kologi were waived up to State Superior Court due to the depravity of the Crimes.


     " The Jury's Verdict confirms that Scott Kologi was responsible for his decisions and actions on the night that culminated with him killing four members of his family," Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Linskey stated.
