Two Arrested For New Brunswick Homicide

TWO MEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO THE NOVEMBER 7, 2021 NEW BRUNSWICK SHOOTING THAT INJURED ONE AND KILLED ANOTHER

     " Jajuan Hill-Staten Of Stock Bridge, Georgia & Quron Hoagland Of North Brunswick Have Been Charged With The Fatal Shooting Of Rafael Florez-Lopez & Injuring Another."

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Monday, January 3, 2022 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced that Two Men have been Arrested and Charged in connection with the Fatal Shooting of Rafael Florez-Lopez, 34, of New Brunswick and the Shooting of another New Brunswick man.


     On November 7, 2021, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Members of The New Brunswick Police Department responded to the area of Seaman Street and Remsen Avenue on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers located Mr. Florez-Lopez and another man, both having sustained multiple Gunshot Wounds. Both men were immediately transported to a nearby hospital where Mr. Florez-Lopez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.


     An ensuing investigation conducted by New Brunswick Police Detective Victor Delgado and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Detective Ryan Tighe identified Jajuan Hill-Staten, 34, of Stock Bridge, Georgia, as the Gunman. The investigation further determined that Quron Hoagland, 28, of North Brunswick, New Jersey, drove Mr. Hill-Staten to the area of the Shooting and transported him from the area immediately after the two men were Shot.


     On November 12, 2021, Mr. Hoagland was Arrested and Charged with Two Counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder; One Count of First Degree Murder; and One Count of First Degree Attempted Murder. Following a Pretrial Detention Hearing in Middlesex Superior Court, Mr. Hoagland was detained pending the resolution of the Charges against him, and has been lodged in The Middlesex County Adult Correction Center.


     On November 29,2021, Mr. Hill-Staten was Arrested and Charged with First Degree Murder; First Degree Attempted Murder; and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Mr. Hill-Staten was apprehended in Florida and taken into Custody by Members of The U.S. Marshals Service and The Winter Haven Police Department.


     Mr. Hill-Staten remains in custody in Florida pending an extradition hearing. Upon return to New Jersey Mr. Hill-Staten will be lodged in The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the resolution of the Charges against him.


     At present, the Murder of Rafael Florez-Lopez seems to have been a targeted attack.
