21 YEAR OLD ORANGE MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO THE SUSPICIOUS DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIENDS DAUGHTER

IRVINGTON, NJ.- On Tuesday, January 3, 2022 Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens and Orange Police Director Todd Warren announced that The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force and The Orange Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Death of a 4-Year-Old Laniyah Bloodworth.
On Thursday, December 30, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Members of The Orange Police Department and Emergency Medical Services Personnel responded to a home on The 200 Block of Wallace Street on a report of an Unresponsive Child. Upon arrival, Emergency Medical Personnel immediately transported the girl to University Hospital where the girl was pronounced deceased at 4:25 p.m., on December 30, 2021.
At this time, Jamil Welch, 21, of Orange, who is the boyfriend of the Child's mother, has been Charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The Child had Unexplained Bruising on her Body. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending results of an autopsy.
