Two Convicted In Monmouth County

TWO MEN CONVICTED IN CONNECTION WITH ASBURY PARK NEW JERSEY DOUBLE SHOOTING

     " Jonathan M. Marvine Of Sayreville & Gary R. Brooks Of Neptune City Both Convicted In The Attempted Murder Of Two Monmouth County, New Jersey Men."

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Friday, November 5, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that a Monmouth County Jury has returned Guilty Verdicts against two men responsible for the Drive-By Shooting of two Monmouth County men on August 2, 2019 in Asbury Park, New Jersey.



     Jonathan M. Marvine, 27, of Sayreville, New Jersey and Gary R. Brooks, 30, of Neptune City, New Jersey both convicted of First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder. Mr. Brooks was additionally convicted of First Degree Attempted Murder and several Related Weapons Offenses following a Trial before The Honorable Jill G. O'Malley, in Monmouth County Superior Court.


     On Friday, August 2, 2019, just after 11:00 p.m., Members of The Asbury Park Police Department and The Neptune Township Police Department responded to multiple 911 reports of a Shooting in the area of Monroe and Ridge Avenues in Asbury Park. Within minutes two Shooting Victims, an 18-Year-Old Asbury Park man, and a 28-Year-Old Neptune Township man entered Jersey Shore Medical Center whom had sustained Gunshot Wounds.


     The ensuing investigation by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, The Asbury Park and Neptune Township Police Departments assisted by The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit resulted in Mr. Marvine and Mr. Brooks being quickly identified as the suspects responsible for the Shooting of the men. 


     Both Mr. Marvine and Mr. Brooks were apprehended later the night of the Shooting at a residence in the 400 Block of Myrtle Avenue in Neptune City, New Jersey. Detectives used video surveillance and traffic cameras to track the White Hyundai Sonata used in the Shooting to the Myrtle Avenue residence.


     Sentencing in the case has been scheduled for Friday, January 7, 2022, at which time Mr. Marvine will face a Sentence of Ten to Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison and Mr. Brooks will face Life Imprisonment.
