STATEN ISLAND NEW YORK MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO THE EARLY MONDAY MORNING FATAL SHOOTING OF A NEW BRUNSWICK MAN

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Monday, November 1, 2021 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced that a Staten Island man has been Arrested and Charged in the Shooting Death of a New Brunswick, New Jersey man.
On Monday, November 1, 2021, at approximately 2:39 a.m., Members of The New Brunswick Police Department responded to the area of Easton Avenue and Condict Street in New Brunswick, after Patrol Officers heard gunfire.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim, later identified as Azeem Seawright of New Brunswick who had sustained a gunshot wound. Mr. Seawright was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.
Just minutes after the Shooting, Members of The New Brunswick Police Department apprehended Justin Landrum, 20, of Staten Island.
Following a joint investigation conducted by The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and The New Brunswick Police Department resulted in Mr. Landrum being Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder and One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Mr. Landrum is presently in Police custody pending transfer to The Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, where he will remain pending a Detention Hearing in Middlesex County Superior Court.
At this time the Shooting does not appear to be a random act. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
