SECOND PENNSYLVANIA MAN ARRESTED IN TARGETED ROBBERY AND MURDER OF A 54-YEAR-OLD PLAINSBORO NEW JERSEY MAN

PLAINSBORO, NJ.- On Monday, November 1, 2021 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Plainsboro Police Chief announced that a second Pennsylvania man has been Arrested and Charged in connection to the Robbery and Murder of a Plainsboro Township man.
On Thursday, October 28, 2021, Devon Melchor, 26, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania was Arrested and Charged with One Count of First Degree Armed Robbery and One Count Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
Mr. Melchor was taken into custody in Florida where he was attempting to board an international flight in order to flee jurisdiction. Mr. Melchor's apprehension was made possible by a collaborative effort by Members of The Plainsboro Police Department, New Jersey State Police, U.S. Marshals Task Force, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Newcastle County Police Department, The Norristown Police Department, Upper Merion Police Department, The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, and The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at approximately 3:38 a.m., Members of The Plainsboro Township Police Department responded to a residence on Briardale Court in Plainsboro on a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found Sree Aravapalli, 54, of Plainsboro who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Aravapalli was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounce deceased.
An investigation by Plainsboro Police Detective William Atkinson and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Detective Paul Kelley determined Mr. Aravapalli was Fatally Shot in his home during an attempted Robbery. The investigation ultimately determined that Jekai Reid-John, 27, of Norristown, Pennsylvania and Mr. Melchor targeted Mr. Aravapalli at a Pennsylvania Casino, and followed him home to his Plainsboro residence where the offenses occurred.
Mr. Melchor is presently being held by Florida Authorities pending an extradition hearing. Upon returning to New Jersey Mr. Melchor will be lodged in The Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, pending a Pre-Trial Detention Hearing.
