PLAINFIELD NEW JERSEY MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING FATAL STABBING OF A PLAINFIELD MAN

PLAINFIELD, NJ.- On Monday, November 8, 2021 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Acting Plainfield Police Director David Guarino announced that Michael Gonzalez, 27, of Plainfield, New Jersey has been Arrested and Charged in connection with a Fatal Stabbing which took place Sunday morning in Plainfield, New Jersey.
On Sunday, November 7, 2021, at approximately 4:40 a.m., Members of The Plainfield Police Department responded to the 400 Block of Liberty Street on a report of a Stabbing.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim, later identified as Osmond Franklin, 48, of Plainfield, New Jersey at the location, having sustained serious injury. Mr. Franklin was immediately transported to Robert Wood University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
A swift investigation conducted by The Union County Homicide Task Force in conjunction with Members of The Plainfield Police Department with assistance from The Union County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit resulted in Mr. Gonzalez being identified as the suspect responsible for the stabbing of Mr. Franklin.
Mr. Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident on Sunday evening and formally Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Fourth Degree Hindering an Investigation.
Mr. Gonzalez was processed on the Charges and remanded to The Union County Jail pending his first appearance and Detention Hearing in Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
