15-YEAR-OLD CARTERET JUVENILE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO THE STABBING DEATH OF A BRONX NEW YORK MAN

CARTERET, NJ.- On Thursday, November 4, 2021 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden announced that a 15-Year-Old Carteret Girl has been Arrested and Charged in connection with the Fatal Stabbing of a man known to her.
On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Members of The Carteret Police Department responded to a residence on Roosevelt Avenue on a report of a Stabbing.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found Zion Barton, 18, of the Bronx, New York who had sustained a Stab Wound. Mr. Barton was immediately transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.
An investigation conducted by Anthony Ramos of The Carteret Police Department and Detective Sean Sullivan of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that the 15-Year-Old girl Stabbed the man.
The girl has been Arrested and Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder and One Count of Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The girl is presently being detained pending a preliminary hearing in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
At this time, the Murder does not appear to be a random act the Juvenile and the Victim knew each other. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
