JERSEY CITY MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO FRIDAY AFTERNOON HOMICIDE ON WEST SIDE AVENUE IN JERSEY CITY NEW JERSEY

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Monday, November 22, 2021 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that a Jersey City man wanted in connection with the Death of 46-Year-Old Haldy Thermitus, who was fatally stabbed in a vacant lot on West Side Avenue in Jersey City on November 19, 2021 has been Arrested.
Raymond Chandler, 45, of Jersey City, New Jersey has been Arrested and Charged with First Degree Murder; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Third Degree Hindering; and Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Mr. Chandler was taken into custody and remanded to The Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny, New Jersey pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
On Friday, November 19, 2021, Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Oxford and West Side Avenues in Jersey City on a report of an injured male. Upon arrival, Police Officers found an injured male victim in a vacant lot behind 562 West Side Avenue.
The victim, later identified as Hadly Thermitus, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:10 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the Cause of Death to be Multiple Sharp Force Injuries and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.
