TEANECK, NJ.- On Thursday, October 28, 2021 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the Arrest of Jairrod Shannon of Teaneck, New Jersey on charges of Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Aggravated Assault, and Hindering Apprehension.
The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and The Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn M. O’Reilly.
On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at approximately 3:49 p.m., Members of The Teaneck Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call on a report of a man with a gunshot wound located at Ammann Park, 303 Fort Lee Road, Teaneck, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Police Officers located Maximilian Reyes, 20, of Teaneck, New Jersey suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Mr. Reyes was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.
A subsequent investigation conducted by Detectives from The Teaneck Police Department and The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit determined that Mr. Shannon was the individual responsible for shooting Death of Mr. Reyes.
Based upon the findings of the investigation, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, Mr. Shannon was Arrested and Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose; One Count of Second Degree Unlawful Possession of an Assault Firearm; One Count of Third Degree Hindering his own Apprehension; and One Count of Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault by Pointing a Firearm.
Mr. Shannon was processed on the Charges, and was remanded to The Passaic County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
