TWO MONMOUTH COUNTY NEW JERSEY MEN CHARGED FOR SUPPLYING ILLICIT NARCOTICS THAT KILLED A HOWELL WOMAN

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Thursday, September 23, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced two men have been Arrested and Charged with supplying a Howell, New Jersey woman illicit narcotics that led to her Death.
Terrance R. Rose, 38, of Freehold Borough, New Jersey, and Reginald A. Simeus, 42, of Howell, New Jersey have both been Charged with First Degree Strict Liability For A Drug Induced Death.
On Tuesday, November 19, 2020, Members of The Howell Police Department responded to a residence on a report of a possible Drug Overdose. Upon arrival, Police Officers found 35-Year-Old Katherine Hughes unresponsive, Ms. Hughes was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
A joint investigation was launched by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and The Howell Police Department into the overdose death of Ms. Hughes. Authorities determined that Mr. Rose and Mr. Simeus had been communicating with Ms. Hughes during the time period leading up to her death. The investigation further revealed that Mr. Simeus had obtained the narcotics from Mr. Rose, before passing them along to Ms. Hughes prior to her death.
In the early stages of the investigation, Mr. Rose and Mr. Simeus were Charged with Multiple Drug Offenses out of South Amboy, New Jersey, and in Howell, those charges remain pending. The Strict Liability charge was formally filed last week. Mr. Simeus was Arrested at his home on Friday, September 17, 2021, and Mr. Rose surrendered himself to Members of The Howell Police Department on Monday, September 20, 2021.
Mr. Simeus was processed on the Charge and released on a summons, while Mr. Rose was processed and transported to The Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, New Jersey, pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.
Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Linskey praised the proactive, dedicated efforts of The Howell Township Police Department, Members of whom worked in conjunction with Detectives from The Prosecutor's Office Narcotics and Criminal Enterprises Unit and Major Crimes Bureau.
