Rancocas High School Teacher Indicted

RANCOCAS VALLEY REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER INDICTED ON CHARGES OF HAVING A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH A STUDENT

     " Gary Jiampetti Of Berlin, New Jersey Has Been Indicted On Two Counts Of Second Degree Official Misconduct In Connection With A Sexual Relationship With His Student In 2020."

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Friday, September 3, 2021 Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Burlington County, New Jersey has returned an Indictment against a Berlin, New Jersey man on Charges of having a Sexual Relationship with a Student while working as a teacher at Rancocas Valley Regional High School. 



    The Grand Jury returned the indictment Charging Gary Jiampetti, 44, on Two Counts of Second Degree Official Misconduct. The indictment was returned on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 and was signed by First Assistant Prosecutor Philip S. Aronow. An arraignment will be scheduled in the next few weeks in Superior Court. 


     The investigation began after the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and The Mount Holly Township Police Department received complaints that Mr. Jiampetti was behaving inappropriately around female students. The investigation determined that a Consensual Sexual Relationship existed between Jiampetti and a female student during the 2019-20 school year. 


     The ensuing investigation determined that the relationship resulted in the student receiving favorable academic treatment. School officials cooperated with law enforcement throughout the investigation. 


     Mr. Jiampetti, who taught health and physical education, was charged in July 2020. Mr Jiampetti no longer works at the school.


     The investigation was conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and  The Mount Holly Township Police Department, with assistance from The Berlin Township Police Department and the Lower Camden County Regional Special Response Team. The lead Burlington County Prosecutor's Office Investigator was Detective Erica Ridge. Mount Holly Township Police Department Investigators included Lieutenant Clifford Spencer, Detective Nicholas Dell-Priscoli and School Resource Officer Deborah Murillo.
