Plainfield Homicide Under Active Investigation

36-YEAR-OLD DELIVERY DRIVER WAS FATALLY SHOT WHILE WORKING ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 8, 2021 IN PLAINFIELD, NEW JERSEY

     "Jamar Harris Of Newark, New Jersey Was Fatally Shot Yesterday Afternoon On Garfield Avenue In Plainfield, New Jersey."

PLAINFIELD, NJ.- On Thursday, September 9, 2021 Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Plainfield Police Department Officer in Charge David M. Guarino announced that yesterday's Fatal Shooting of a Newark, New Jersey resident is under active investigation. 



     The victim, who has been positively identified as Jamar Harris, 36, of Newark, New Jersey, a delivery truck driver who was working at the time of his death.


     According to the preliminary investigation, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Members of The Plainfield Police Department responded to The 200 Block of Garfield Avenue in Plainfield on a report of a shooting.



     Upon arrival, Police Officers found Mr. Harris in the location, who had sustained a Fatal Gunshot Wound. Mr. Harris was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.


     The investigation is being led by The Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by Members of The Plainfield Police Department, Union County Police Ballistics Unit, and The Union County Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit.
