FORMER MONMOUTH COUNTY CORRECTIONS OFFICER SENTENCED FOR SHOPLIFTING OFFENSES

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Friday, September 24, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that a former Monmouth County Corrections Officer has been sentenced for Shoplifting Incidents that took place in Ocean Township and Long Branch, New Jersey.
Suzanne Simone, 53, of Ocean Township, New Jersey, a 22-Year veteran of The Monmouth County Correctional Institution, has been ordered to forfeit her position, serve a year of probation, pay over $1,300.00 in restitution and never to return to the stores she stole from, according to the term of the sentence handed down by The Honorable Joseph W. Oxley, J.S.C.
Ms. Simone had previously Pleaded Guilty to Fourth Degree Shoplifting in connection with multiple instances in which she failed to pay from items at local Home Depot and Target Stores. An investigation by The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Ocean Township and Long Branch Police Departments, and Loss Prevention Staff from the stores, uncovered that Ms.Simone on multiple occasions Skip Scanned items, of lower cost, while avoiding more expensive items, or simply pretending to scan those items, ultimately leaving the store without paying for them.
Ms. Simone was wearing her Corrections Uniform while committing the thefts. Some of the stolen goods were later recovered at her residence.
