Fair Lawn New Jersey Man Charged

 A FAIR LAWN NEW JERSEY MAN WAS CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH AN INCIDENT IN WHICH A FAIR LAWN WOMAN WAS PREVIOUSLY CHARGED

     " Ramon Vargas Of Fair Lawn Has Been Additionally Charged With Second Degree Child Endangerment In Connection With Allowing A Two-Year-Old Child To Ingest Illegal Narcotics."

FAIR LAWN, NJ.- On Thursday, September 9, 2021 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Ramon Vargas, 48,  of Fair Lawn, New Jersey on a Child Endangerment Charge. 


     The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn Cauwels. 



     On Thursday, August 26, 2021, The Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an unresponsive Two-Year-Old Child who was brought to Hackensack University Medical Center. Upon medical evaluation, it was determined that the child tested positive for ingestion of Illegal Controlled Dangerous Substances. An investigation was initiated by The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and The Fair Lawn Police Department. 


     As previously reported, on Friday, September 3, 2021, the child’s mother, Mariel Devargas was arrested and charged with Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 


     As a result of the ensuing investigation, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, Ramon Vargas was Arrested and Charged with One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Vargas was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court, in Hackensack, New Jersey.
